  • Rabadon's Deathcap
  • Infinity Orb
  • Void Staff
  • Banshee's Veil

A jungle game where the enemy team is buying magic resistance

This build totals 575 Ability Power with 33 flat and 48% magic penetration. Void Staff's 40% and the 18 from Spellslinger's Shoes overlap, so extra magic resistance on the enemy side does little to blunt the damage. Rabadon's Deathcap raises AP by 30%, while Lich Bane's Spellblade adds bonus magic damage equal to 75% base AD + 45% AP to the next attack within 10 seconds of using an ability. Banshee's Veil grants a spell shield that blocks the next hostile ability, on a 30 second cooldown.

Gragas Strengths

  • High kill potential with plenty of CC and burst damage
  • Tenacious sustain from his passive healing
  • Can break the enemy formation with a single Ult

Gragas Weaknesses

  • ×Relies heavily on skillshots; missing is costly
  • ×Weak while skills are on cooldown
  • ×Mobility depends on skills, making positioning tricky

Early Game

Harass by hitting both minions and the enemy champion with Skill 1, and stay in lane with your passive healing. The Skill 3 plus Flash combo works well with ganks, letting you look for kills early.

Mid Game

Secure vision around objectives and look for one-combo ambushes from the brush. How you use your Ult to break the enemy formation decides fights, so be patient and save it for the moment it matters most.

Late Game

With an AP build, play as an assassin who quickly kills enemy carries; with a tank build, peel for your team. A Flash plus Skill 3 engage is hard to avoid, so punishing poorly positioned enemies is your path to victory.

Teamfights

You have two roles in teamfights. One is knocking the enemy backline forward with your Ult to isolate them. The other is peeling assassins off your carries. Decide which one you take, and switch between offense and defense accordingly.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Saving enemies with your Ult (Explosive Cask)

Using your Ult (Explosive Cask) right as your team lands CC and burst, and blowing the enemy to safety, is a costly mistake. It happens in teamfights and gank follow-ups alike. Landing it off your Skill 3 stun is the reliable option. Otherwise, choose the barrel's landing spot carefully so the enemy is knocked toward your team.

Adjust
Drunken Rage Damage: 65/90/115/140 + 90% AP + 7% Target Max HP → 35/70/105/140 + 70% AP + 8% Target Max HP Rank 1 damage falls from 65 to 35, while the max HP scaling rises from 7% to 8%. Gragas is noticeably weaker at low levels, so early lane trades and first-clear ganks land much softer than they used to. Rank 4 keeps its 140 base, and against health-stacking targets he actually hits harder than before. With the AP ratio down 20%, durable builds line up better with the ability than pure AP ones.

Happy Hour Cooldown: reduced Barrel Roll Cooldown: reduced Minion damage: 50% → 80% Drunken Rage Base damage: increased This is a sizeable lift to how fast Gragas clears. Barrel Roll going from 50% to 80% minion damage lets him take out a stacked wave in one go, and with the shorter cooldown on top he gets to decide where the lane sits. The faster Happy Hour turnaround means he recovers what he loses in trades and keeps stepping forward.
