Yasuo Strengths

  • High mobility by dashing through minion waves
  • Projectile blocking with Skill 2 (Wind Wall)
  • Conditional AoE knock-up and high armor penetration

Yasuo Weaknesses

  • ×Melee fighter who suffers against mage poke
  • ×Ult needs a knocked-up target
  • ×Depends heavily on mechanics and decision-making

Early Game

Early on, use your mobility through minions to dash in with Skill 3 for short trades. Step forward only while your Passive shield is charged. Keeping to that rule limits unnecessary damage and lets you control the lane.

Mid Game

Finishing your critical items in the mid game is Yasuo's biggest power spike. Block key enemy skills with Wind Wall. Then widen the gap through side-lane split pushing and small skirmishes.

Late Game

With full items your damage is high, but the risk of dying instantly to CC rises as well. Do not force engages on your own. The basic pattern is to wait for an ally's knock-up and follow it with Ult.

Teamfights

Follow your team's knock-ups with Ult onto the enemy backline and kill the carry quickly; that is your main goal. In the chaos, place Wind Wall where it cuts off the enemy marksman's damage.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Using every minion for Skill 3 dashes and cutting off your retreat

When you dash in with Skill 3 to trade, avoid using up every minion on the way. You lose the stepping stones you need to get back, and take the counter-attack and minion damage for free. Before a harass, plan a route that leaves one or two enemy minions for the dash back.

YasuoPatch 7.2
Adjust
Ronin Road Shield: 115-600 (scaling with critical rate and champion level) → 125-680 (scaling with champion level) The shield builds more slowly early and more quickly late (roughly +-10%). Wind Wall Cooldown: 18/18/18/18s → 22/20/18/16s Sweeping Blade Damage amplification stacks from consecutive attacks: 2 → 3 (maximum amplification unchanged at 75%) Last Breath Bonus: 40% AR penetration rate → 55% bonus AR penetration rate Cutting critical rate out of the shield makes it reliable long before Yasuo finishes his items. Wind Wall pays for that, though: four extra seconds at rank 1 means a casually placed wall early leaves him without it for the next fight. Sweeping Blade needs one more attack to reach maximum amplification, so short trades hit softer than they used to. And because the ultimate's penetration only touches bonus AR, his finish on unarmoured backliners weakens while armoured targets take the full 55%, which cuts deeper than before.
Yasuo
YasuoPatch 7.1
Nerf
Sweeping Blade Base damage reduced Last Breath AR Penetration: 50% → 40% Sweeping Blade is Yasuo's laning phase — dashing off minions to close the gap while chipping the enemy down. With its base damage lowered, winning the lane through repeated trades takes longer. Last Breath dropping from 50% to 40% AR Penetration also softens his payoff after a knock-up, so a target who has bought a single armor item can now sometimes survive the full combo.
