Update history and meta predictions

Numbers are transcribed from the official Riot patch notes; the commentary is ours. This page covers patch 7.2d (added 2026-08-26).

Meta analysis (patch 7.2d, AI-written forecast)

The nerfs land on champions who scale safely into the late game. Yone loses 6 base armor and Gwen is trimmed in both lane and jungle, which raises the value of forcing early trades in the baron lane. In the other direction, auto-attack fighters who suffered from the boot rework get power back — Fiora and Renekton can cut through tanky opponents again. Among mages, Syndra, Vladimir and Mordekaiser are all reinforced, bringing back a group that had fallen off because of thin AP scaling. In the support role Yuumi regains her protection while Thresh sees his hook cycle slow down. On items, Edge of Night gains 4 penetration and Stormsurge drops 100 gold; both were being passed over, so the change widens the range of viable builds.

Syndra
SyndraPatch 7.2d
Buff
Dark Sphere Base Damage: 70/115/160/205 → 80/130/180/230 Force of Will AP Ratio: 45% → 60% Scatter the Weak Cooldown: 17s → 15s AP Ratio: 35% → 50% Since the mage item rework, Syndra has been left behind by her thin AP scaling. All three abilities get help here: Dark Sphere gains 25 damage at rank 4, while Force of Will and Scatter the Weak each pick up 15 points of AP ratio. She hits harder at every stage of the game, and the two seconds off Scatter the Weak let her push back more often when she is the one being shoved in.
Yuumi
YuumiPatch 7.2d
Buff
You and Me! Cooldown: 10/5/0s → 8/4/0s Bonus Heal and Shield Power: 6/7/8/9% → 8/9/10/11% Zoomies Cooldown: 10s → 9s Shield: 85/110/135/160 + 30% AP → 80/110/140/170 + 40% AP Yuumi has been unable to protect herself or her partner. The Zoomies shield drops by 5 at rank 1 but grows from rank 3 onward, and its AP ratio climbs by 10 points, so stacking AP now pays off more. Swapping with You and Me! comes back two seconds sooner, which makes hopping to a threatened ally far more reliable.
Vladimir
VladimirPatch 7.2d
Buff
Crimson Pact Bonus Health to AP: 4.5% → 5% AP to Health: 140% → 150% Transfusion Crimson Rush Bonus Damage Ratio: 75% → 85% Tides of Blood Minimum Damage: 20/40/60/80 + 35% AP + 2.5% max HP → 30/50/70/90 + 35% AP + 3% max HP Vladimir leaned too hard on items early and took too long to come online. Both halves of Crimson Pact convert better now, so health and AP purchases each return more. Tides of Blood gains 10 base damage and half a point of max-health scaling, steadying his early poke. All three of his official loadouts were rebuilt as well.
Veigar
VeigarPatch 7.2d
Buff
Baleful Strike Range: 7.75 → 9 Veigar’s damage was never the issue — surviving the lane while stacking was. The extra 1.25 range lets him reach minions even when shoved in, so he can keep building toward his late game from a safe distance.
Pantheon
PantheonPatch 7.2d
Nerf
Comet Spear Critical Health Threshold: 35% → 25% Pantheon’s early kill pressure — especially on contested objectives and steals — was a little too dependable. Ten points off the threshold narrows the health range where a follow-up finishes the job, so more targets escape.
Mordekaiser
MordekaiserPatch 7.2d
Buff
Darkness Rise Magic Penetration: 1/3/5/7% → 3/6/9/12% Death’s Grasp Cooldown: 17.5/15/12.5/10s → 15/13/11/9s Losing magic penetration from items hit Mordekaiser hard. His passive now carries 12% at rank 4 instead of 7%, covering much of what he lost, and the shorter cooldown on Death’s Grasp gives him more casts in late-game fights.
Twisted Fate
Twisted FatePatch 7.2d
Nerf
Stacked Deck AP Ratio: 45% AP → 35% AP AP builds were producing more burst and sustained damage than intended. The ratio drops by 10 points, which caps the ceiling without removing the build — going AP remains a valid line.
Fiora
FioraPatch 7.2d
Buff
Duelist’s Dance Damage: 3.5% + 0.05% bonus AD → 4% + 0.055% bonus AD Since the boot changes, auto-attack fighters have struggled against Plated Steelcaps. This partially reverts an earlier nerf, restoring the payoff for hitting a vital on a tanky opponent.
Gwen
GwenPatch 7.2d
Nerf
Snip Snip! AP Ratio per Hit: 7% → 6% Final Hit AP Ratio: 35% → 30% Damage to Jungle Monsters: 105% → 100% Gwen was among the biggest winners from Twilight and Dawn and the boot changes. This trims her in lane and in the jungle at once — with the monster modifier back to even, her clear speed drops noticeably.
Yone
YonePatch 7.2d
Nerf
Base Stats Armor: 43 → 37 Yone has been scaling a little too safely in the baron lane. Six points off his base armor make early trades winnable for his opponent, putting the emphasis on building a lead before his power spike arrives.
Renekton
RenektonPatch 7.2d
Buff
Cull the Meek Bonus AD Ratio (normal): 90% → 100% Ruthless Predator Base Damage: 24/48/72/96 → 20/60/100/140 Empowered Base Damage (Reign of Anger): 36/72/108/144 → 30/90/150/210 Like Fiora, Renekton lost ground to the boot changes. Ruthless Predator gives up 4 damage at rank 1 and gains heavily from rank 2 on: 96 becomes 140 at rank 4, or 144 to 210 when empowered. A maxed Ruthless Predator now lands like a different ability.
Caitlyn
CaitlynPatch 7.2d
Buff
Headshot Damage: 50%-100% AD by level + 125 × crit chance → 60%-110% AD by level + 200 × crit chance Yordle Snap Trap Recharge: 27/22/17/12s → 25/20/15/10s Caitlyn was short on late-game damage and on map control from her traps. The crit-chance coefficient rises from 125 to 200, so stacking crit pays off far more, and two seconds off every trap recharge lets her keep replacing them mid-fight.
Thresh
ThreshPatch 7.2d
Nerf
Death Sentence Cooldown Refund on Champion Hit: 3s → 2s Landing a hook brought the next one back too quickly. With one second less refunded, there is now a gap after a successful hook — and room for the target to answer.

Loadout Update Build 1: Trinity Force, Umbral Glaive, Black Cleaver, Guardian Angel, Death’s Dance, Armored Advance Build 2: Youmuu’s Ghostblade, Trinity Force, Serpent’s Fang, Serylda’s Grudge, Guardian Angel, Immortal Tread Rune Page 3: Conqueror, Brutal, Legend: Alacrity, Overgrowth No numerical changes here either — two preset builds and one rune page were rearranged.
Edge of Night
Edge of NightPatch 7.2d
Buff
Base Stats Armor Penetration: 8 → 12 Even after its price cut, Edge of Night could not keep up with the other lethality items. Four more penetration means the defensive utility no longer costs so much damage.
Stormsurge
StormsurgePatch 7.2d
Buff
Base Stats Cost: 2900g → 2800g The problem was the price, not the item. A hundred gold less makes Stormsurge easier to slot alongside other purchases.

What the Patch Archive Covers

515 recorded changes across 26 versions, from 6.3 through to the current 7.2d. It is built for tracking how often a single champion has been buffed or nerfed.

Some patches move far more than others

The largest is 7.2 with 175 entries — the patch that rebuilt boots and introduced tier 3. Others run to a handful of lines, so the version numbers alone say nothing about how much the meta shifted.

Of the 515 entries, 182 are champion changes. The rest cover items and runes, ARAM and Arena tuning, ranked seasons and system-level work.

What the meta prediction is worth

Selecting a version also brings up a meta prediction for that patch, 26 versions in all. It is an AI-written read rather than measured data; the tier list is where you check what the win rates actually did.

Counts reflect the patch data bundled with this site. A new patch takes a short while to appear.
