Popular Vayne builds in game

Taken from the in-game loadout screen as of 2026-08-26. The pick count and win rate are shown exactly as the game reports them.

Build 1Win rate 53.54%Picks 8,661

On-hit attack speed build with added resistances

  • Gunmetal Greaves
  • Blade of the Ruined King
  • Guinsoo's Rageblade
  • Terminus
  • Wit's End
  • Amaranth's Twinguard

When the enemy's main damage is magic and you get focused in fights

Amaranth's Twinguard brings +60 Armor and +60 Magic Resistance, and Wit's End another +45 Magic Resistance, putting the build at +105 Magic Resistance and +60 Armor. Twinguard gains a stack of Endurance every second while in combat with enemy champions, and at five stacks it raises AR and MR by 30% each and grants 20% Tenacity. Wit's End adds 10-55 bonus magic damage to your attacks, and below 50% HP, damaging an enemy champion heals a ranged champion for 66% of that effect's post-mitigation damage.

Build 2Win rate 53.68%Picks 2,380

On-hit attack speed build with a crowd control cleanse

  • Blade of the Ruined King
  • Guinsoo's Rageblade
  • Mercurial Scimitar
  • Trinity Force
  • Terminus
  • Gunmetal Greaves

When the enemy team has heavy crowd control that shuts you down in a fight

Mercurial Scimitar's active strips every crowd control debuff off you and gives 0.25s of immunity to it. When that ends you hold 30% Tenacity and 30% Slow Resist for 1.5s on a 60s cooldown, and it cannot be used while airborne or knocked back. Trinity Force brings +333 Max Health and +20 Ability Haste, and the build totals +155 Attack Damage with +15% Physical Vamp.

Vayne Strengths

  • True damage from Skill 2's passive that melts tanks
  • Strong dueling with Ult and Skill 1 invisibility
  • Late-game carry power once fully scaled

Vayne Weaknesses

  • ×Short range and one of the weakest early lanes among ADCs
  • ×No AoE, so wave clear is slow
  • ×High mechanical demands; one mistake can be fatal

Early Game

The early lane is a hard stretch. Avoid forced trades and focus on picking up CS. Do not panic if you are pushed under tower. Farm, and hold on until level 5 or your first core item.

Mid Game

Once your core items come in, Vayne's window opens. Pin isolated enemies to a wall with Skill 3 in skirmishes or side lanes to stun them. Collect those kills to speed up your scaling.

Late Game

In the late game you become a carry that is hard to stop. Wait for the enemy's dangerous CC to be used, then use Ult and Skill 1 invisibility to dodge their attacks while you take them down one at a time.

Teamfights

In teamfights, not overextending comes first. Melt the closest frontliner with true damage and work back from there. If an assassin comes for you, calmly drop their aggro with stealth.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Tumbling straight into the enemy frontline

A common beginner mistake on Vayne is tumbling straight into the enemy frontline with Skill 1 just to get more damage in. Vayne is fragile, and one piece of CC is enough to kill her. Use Skill 1 mainly to kite backward or sideways. Even during level 5 all-ins, hold it to dodge the enemy's lethal skills.

Vayne Combos

Stun Combo

Reposition with Skill 1, then slam them into a wall with Skill 3 for a 1.5s stun.

Vayne Patch History

VaynePatch 7.1d
Nerf
Tumble Empowered attack duration: 7s → 4s Silver Bolts True damage: 3/6/9/12% → 2/5/8/11% Attack Speed: 15/20/25/30% → 10/15/20/25% Holding a Tumble-empowered attack now lasts 4s instead of 7s, cutting the window between rolling and striking. Waiting out an opening before landing that hit is much harder, and a misread on positioning costs Vayne outright. Silver Bolts loses 1% true damage and 5% attack speed at every rank, so she shreds tanks more slowly and wins fewer extended trades. There are simply fewer moments where she can step forward for free.

VaynePatch 7.0a
Nerf
Tumble Bonus damage: 40/50/60/70% AD → 35/45/55/65% Final Hour Bonus AD: 20/30/40 → 15/25/35 Tumble loses 5% AD of bonus damage at every rank and Final Hour gives 5 less bonus AD, so her empowered attacks close fights out more slowly. During Final Hour both cuts stack, which makes her ultimate window noticeably lighter. Vayne's identity is grinding a single target down, and with more attacks needed to finish the job, her positioning and timing have to be that much cleaner to stay in range.
Vayne
VaynePatch 6.3e
Nerf
Q Early cooldown: increased Vayne's early in-and-out pattern is the target here. With a longer cooldown at low ranks, she can no longer reset her spacing after every trade, so stepping in exposes her to the return before the dash is back. Later ranks are unchanged, which makes surviving the opening stretch of lane the decisive part of the matchup.
