Shyvana Strengths

  • Among the fastest Dragon killers of any champion
  • Wide AoE burst and high durability in Dragon form
  • Fast jungle clears that build gold quickly

Shyvana Weaknesses

  • ×Few gap closers or CC, so early ganks rarely land
  • ×Cannot use Ult without a full Fury gauge
  • ×Almost no hard CC, so she depends on her team's engage

Early Game

Early ganks rarely land, so avoid forcing plays and farm the jungle to reach level 5 quickly. Shyvana kills Dragons fast, and each Dragon pushes her passive stacks a long way. The first Dragon is the top-priority objective to secure together with your team.

Mid Game

With Ult available, Shyvana is at her strongest, so look to start fights. Dragon form Skill 3 has long range and bursts down grouped enemies. When Ult is down, go back to farming and wait for your Fury to refill.

Late Game

In the late game your burst and wide AoE make you the team's main damage source. Before Dragon or Baron fights, transform with Ult and poke with Skill 3. Once the enemy is chunked and backing off, take the objective safely.

Teamfights

In teamfights, pick the spot where enemies are grouped, dive in with Ult, then follow with Skill 3. The wide AoE damages their whole team. On an AP build, do not try to frontline; stay behind your team and keep dealing damage as mobile artillery.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Ignoring Dragons to farm your own jungle

Shyvana's passive gains a large number of stacks from each Dragon kill, and every 100 stacks upgrades one of her skills. If you ignore Dragons and stay in your own jungle, those upgrades stall and you lack damage in mid and late teamfights. Set up vision early and work with your team to take Dragons as the first priority. The Dragon transformation Ult you unlock at level 5 is the engage tool that swings those fights.

Base Stats Base AD: 58 → 62 Fury of the Dragonborn Stacks from large monster kills: 10 → 8 Twin Bite Slow in dragon form: 50% → 30% Dragon's Descent Fury per second: 1.5/2/2.5 → 1/1.5/2 The extra 4 base AD makes Shyvana's jungle clear and early skirmishes easier, but everything feeding her transformation is slower. Large monsters give 8 stacks instead of 10 and passive fury generation drops by 0.5 per second, so dragon form arrives noticeably later. Twin Bite's slow in dragon form also falls from 50% to 30%, making it harder to catch and finish a target after transforming. In short, she trades burst around her ultimate for a smoother early farm.

Adjust
Burnout Bonus haste in Dragon Form reduced Dragon's Descent Bonus HP increased Burnout carried most of Shyvana's output while she was rampaging in Dragon Form. Its haste bonus is pulled back, so her ability turnover in that form slows down, but the extra bonus HP from Dragon's Descent makes the transformed Shyvana noticeably harder to bring down. The weight shifts from out-pacing the enemy to standing in front of them and grinding them down, which favours teamfight presence over fast clear speed.
Shyvana
ShyvanaPatch 6.3d
Nerf
Burnout Base damage per second: reduced Flame Breath Dragon form burn damage: reduced The cuts target the damage Shyvana grinds out over time. Lower Burnout damage per second slows her jungle clear, which pushes back when she can first show up on a lane. With the dragon-form Flame Breath burn also weaker, transforming to close out a fight finishes fewer of them, so the timing of that transformation deserves more care.
