Full AP with Seeker's Armguard's stasis

  • Stormsurge
  • Infinity Orb
  • Spellslinger's Shoes
  • Rabadon's Deathcap
  • Seeker's Armguard
  • Void Staff

When physical-damage divers keep jumping straight onto you

Seeker's Armguard adds 20 Armor and 35 Ability Power, and its Stasis active leaves you invulnerable and untargetable for 2.5 seconds on a 120-second cooldown. You cannot move, attack or act while it lasts, so it buys time for allies to arrive or for a dive to run dry. The damage sits elsewhere: Void Staff's 40% Magic Penetration and Rabadon's Deathcap's 30% AP increase, with 495 Ability Power and 48 flat plus 48% Magic Penetration across the set.

Build 2Win rate 53.39%Picks 3,101

Full AP with Banshee's Veil's spell shield

  • Stormsurge
  • Infinity Orb
  • Spellslinger's Shoes
  • Rabadon's Deathcap
  • Void Staff
  • Banshee's Veil

When enemy damage is mostly magic and one landed hit can finish you

Banshee's Veil adds 105 Ability Power and 40 Magic Resistance, and its Annul shield blocks the next hostile ability outright on a 30-second cooldown. Since it returns every 30 seconds, a shield stripped by an early hit is back before the next fight. Ability Power reaches 565 here, backed by Void Staff's 40% Magic Penetration and Rabadon's Deathcap's 30% AP increase.

Non-champion targets take 40% ((Lv)) damage and refund 10% of this Ability's Cooldown.

Vex Strengths

  • A strong counter to dash-heavy, mobile champions
  • Fear from the passive
  • Long-range engage from out of vision with Ult

Vex Weaknesses

  • ×Impact drops sharply if Ult misses
  • ×Little sustained damage once skills are spent
  • ×Fragile and exposed while the Fear gauge is empty

Early Game

When your lane opponent dashes or blinks carelessly, punish them with the passive's bonus damage. Keep the Fear gauge glowing red. Pressure the enemy while clearing the wave safely.

Mid Game

Once you learn Ult, you can engage from out of vision. Roam often and land Ult on the enemy ADC or mage. If the feared AoE burst picks up the kill, the game can snowball from there.

Late Game

Your late-game role is to use Ult's kill reset to take down the enemy backline one after another. Diving in without a plan and without a defensive item like Zhonya's Hourglass gets you focused and killed. Pick your moment carefully.

Teamfights

The moment the enemy focuses on your frontline is your opening. Dive their carry with Ult from a blind spot, put up your shield, and fear them with the passive-empowered attack. Your role is to cause chaos in the middle of their formation and break it apart.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Engaging with the passive Fear gauge empty

Vex's biggest weapon is the reliable Fear from her passive. Spending the passive on minion waves and then diving into a teamfight with Ult while the gauge is empty is dangerous. You provide no CC, and a fragile mage simply dies alone. From level 5 on, look at the gauge under your feet before any Ult engage. Make sure it is glowing red and the Fear is ready.

Vex Combos

All-in Combo

Dive in with Ult, then fear them with the passive-empowered auto and clean up.
