Games where enemy frontliners stack Armor and magic damage keeps coming

Serylda's Grudge grants 33% AR Pen through Last Whisper. Enemies slowed by Icy pick up Frostbite, and at 3 stacks those stacks are spent on a bleed plus 50% Grievous Wounds for 3 seconds. Force of Nature builds Steadfast whenever an enemy champion lands ability damage on you, cutting incoming magic damage by 20% at 4 stacks. Totals come to 683 Max Health, 40 Armor, 60 Magic Resistance, and +10% plus +45 Movement Speed.

Hecarim Strengths

  • Burst potential where movement speed feeds directly into attack speed
  • Gank and engage power that closes the gap from out of vision in an instant
  • Sustained AoE damage and strong healing in teamfights

Hecarim Weaknesses

  • ×Damage drops sharply when hit by slows or CC
  • ×Burns through mana quickly
  • ×Hard to make an impact if he falls behind early and can't snowball

Early Game

Prioritize farming, but look for ganks while keeping Skill 1 empowered. A high-speed gank with Ghost or your Ult up closes the distance before the target can react.

Mid Game

Use your mobility to cover the map and launch quick engages from out of vision. Catching isolated or poorly positioned enemies to hand your team an advantage is what Hecarim does best.

Late Game

Raise your movement speed to its peak, then Ult into the enemy backline to take down squishy carries quickly. After engaging, use Skill 2's healing to survive their focus and keep moving through the fight.

Teamfights

Time your dive with allied assassins to break the enemy backline. Alternatively, fear several enemies with your Ult to set up an initiation your team can follow up on together. Either works.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Engaging without movement speed buffs

Your passive damage scales with movement speed, so engaging with your Ult while holding Ghost and Skill 3 is a mistake. You deal little damage and simply die. Pop your speed buffs before you go in. From level 5, hit top speed before sending your Ult into the enemy backline.

Hecarim Combos

Engage Combo

Use the move speed from Skill 3 to dive with Ult and split them apart. Hit the area with Skill 2 and Skill 1.

Hecarim Patch History

HecarimPatch 7.2b
Nerf
Rampage On-hit bonus movement speed: 30% → 18% This cuts straight into what Hecarim does best: building speed while he chases. Losing 12% movement speed from Rampage's on-hit effect slows how fast he closes from behind on a gank, how long he stays glued to a fleeing target, and how far he has to travel to reach a back line. Opponents get room to create distance, so he now needs terrain and ally crowd control to set his engages up.

Base Stats Base AD: 58 → 54 AD per level: 3.6 → 4 Spirit of Dread Damage: 15/20/25/30 → 12/18/24/30 Hecarim had been running away with games in high elo on the strength of his early roaming. Four less base AD with 0.4 more per level slows his first clears and his early gank conversions, while the gap closes as he levels and his late-game AD ends up higher than before. Spirit of Dread loses 3 damage at rank 1, 2 at rank 2 and 1 at rank 3 with rank 4 untouched, so what gets trimmed is the chip damage before the ability is maxed.
