Nautilus Strengths

  • Reliable catches with a point-and-click Ult and plenty of CC
  • High frontline durability from the Skill 2 shield

Nautilus Weaknesses

  • ×Large hitbox makes him an easy target for poke and skillshots
  • ×Few escape tools; hard to get back out after engaging

Early Game

Engage with the Skill 1 hook to take control of the lane. After the hook lands, follow with the passive auto-attack root. Hold them long enough for your ally to take the kill.

Mid Game

Finish your boots early and roam to mid or the jungle to create numbers advantages. Stand at the front when taking vision before Dragon or Herald. Use your body to protect the team.

Late Game

Avoid moving alone and act as the shield of your team's formation. Point Ult at the enemy's most fed carry. Have the whole team focus them down.

Teamfights

Decide whether to engage with your CC chain or stay back and peel for your carries. If there is an opening, start the fight with the hook. Pop your shield and soak the enemy's attacks.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

Hooking the enemy tank

Landing Skill 1 (hook) on the enemy tank at the front of a teamfight is a big mistake. You pull yourself into their CC and leave your backline exposed. Aim the hook at squishy carries. If you cannot reach them, use your level 5 Ult on their backline and focus on peeling.

Nautilus Combos

Basic Engage

Hook with Skill 1 and root with the passive auto. Add damage and a shield with Skill 2 and Skill 3.

Titan's Wrath Damage to jungle monsters: 200% → 125% Max HP shield ratio: 13%/14%/15%/16% → 9%/10%/11%/12% Riptide Damage to jungle monsters: 175% → 125% This is aimed squarely at Nautilus in the jungle. Both abilities are brought down to the same 125% against monsters, which visibly slows his early clear. Titan's Wrath also loses 4% max HP on its shield, so tanking camps while he clears is harder too. Compared with running him in support or baron lane, the case for putting him in the jungle is now much thinner.
